Bringing Back Character
Pete Morgan, a captivating storyteller and former BBC radio presenter, is dedicated to empowering individuals to share their stories through the power of podcasts. As the founder of MonkeyPants Productions, he not only coaches clients but also offers them a platform to engage their audience with charm, enthusiasm, and authenticity through their own podcast series.
Pete’s charismatic and lively style infuses every aspect of his podcasting approach. However, his brand identity lacked the confidence to truly reflect his playful persona, too concerned with looking ‘professional’ to allow the Pete magic to really sparkle. It was time… to bring back the monkey!
The Adventure
We launched into a MonkeyPants deep dive to uncover Pete’s vision and ideal client – interesting individuals with captivating stories to share. Pete was eager to infuse his brand with personality and playfulness while maintaining a professional image. To capture this, we adopted a contemporary illustrative style, utilising hexagonal shapes with soft rounded edges as the foundation for the logo.
This evolved into a unique ‘monkey mark’ featuring a range of expressions and, of course, iconic podcast headphones. The primary colour palette was chosen to be vibrant purple, reflecting Pete’s passion and also paying homage to his admiration for the artist Prince.
When we launched the new branding, I had so much positive feedback about it – and the flexibility that I had with the new monkey logo, meant that it felt like a new lease of life for the marketing. I keep coming up with more and more ideas about how we can use the branding in our social media posts!
The Destination
The revitalised MonkeyPants brand identity has instilled in Pete a renewed sense of pride and confidence in his business. The monkey mark has injected the magic back into his marketing, striking the perfect balance between fun and professionalism, and attracted more engagement from the brilliant storytellers he really wants to connect with. He has a versatile, characterful and recognisable brand oozing with energy that truly positions MonkeyPants Productions for exponential growth, with the tools to shine brightly amongst a competitive market.
